Krakow Integration Days

Drukuj

The Krakow Integration Days have been held annually since April 2008. The idea of this event, put forward by Marzena Kasperska (formally Dudek), is to meet the needs and expectations of students with disabilities, tighten and strengthen cooperation among the offices for students with disabilities at Krakow`s universities and, above all, to integrate Krakow`s academic community with the disabled students` community. Through Integration Days we would like to make people more aware of and sensitive to the problems of persons with disabilities. We invite everyone to the collective games, exhibitions, happenings and conferences that are held during the Krakow Integration Days. Traditionally, we organise an annual basketball tournament on wheelchairs and an integration relay race.

The Krakow Integration Days are organised by seven of Krakow`s universities, which signed the Agreement on Cooperation on 27th October 2010. These universities were:

  • AGH University of Science and Technology
  • Cracow University of Technology
  • Cracow University of Economics
  • Pedagogical University of Cracow
  • The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow
  • Jagiellonian University in Krakow

The main coordinator of the event is Cracow University of Economics.

With each edition the initiative is gaining momentum.

The annual highlights of the event are:

  • Integralia Awards Ceremony: Integralia Awards are given to persons or institutions in recognition of their work for equal treatment of persons with disabilities in education.
  • Conferences, debates, panel discussions on disability issues.
  • Recreational and sports events like the Sports Day, featuring a wide range of activities including: integration dancing, dance on the wheelchair show, a traditional relay race.
  • A variety of workshops and trainings, including a series on `Seeing Disability`.
  • ... and many other original actions.

We invite everyone to join us!
